Paris, France – 4th November, 2026 – AndzonBio2 today announced that it has been awarded funding from The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) to support the development of its lead STING inhibitor program for Parkinson’s disease.
This grant is from MJFF’s Therapeutics Pipeline Program (TPP), which supports the development of promising Parkinson’s therapies and helps generate the evidence needed to inform key development decisions. The STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes) pathway has emerged as one of the most promising innate immune mechanisms involved in chronic neuroinflammation. AndzonBio2 is developing a differentiated brain-penetrant small molecule inhibitor specifically designed for central nervous system diseases, combining validated biology with CNS-optimized medicinal chemistry and biomarker-driven development. The program originates from research conducted by the Alzheimer Research UK ALBORADA Drug Discovery Institute at the University of Cambridge and has progressed into lead optimization since joining the AndzonBio2 portfolio.
Funding from MJFF will support activities aimed at advancing the program toward clinical candidate selection, including biomarker development, disease-relevant preclinical studies and additional translational research.
“This support will allow us to advance important studies of our STING program, including disease-relevant preclinical work. We are grateful to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for supporting this research as we work to generate the evidence needed to inform the program’s next stages of development,” said Loïc Lhuillier, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of AndzonBio2.
“Neuroinflammation is an important area of Parkinson’s research, and advancing new therapeutic approaches requires rigorous evidence at the preclinical stage,” said Gaia Skibinski, Ph.D., Head of Translational Therapeutics at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. “The studies supported through this award will help generate the preclinical data needed to evaluate AndzonBio2’s STING inhibitor program, support clinical candidate selection and inform the next stages of therapeutic development.”
The award further validates AndzonBio2’s strategy of building a diversified portfolio of mechanism-based therapeutics targeting complementary drivers of neurodegeneration. Together, the company’s STING and ACSL4 programs provide multiple opportunities to address neuroinflammation across a broad range of neurological disorders.
